While thermal imaging camera is developed in smartphones to identify how cold or hot someone/something is, a new application has been developed to transform the hot issue of waste collection into a “cold” issue.
The American solid-waste disposal company “Daily Disposal” invested in a custom mobile app called eMobile, Samsung Galaxy tablets with 10.1-inch screens and cellular service from Sprint. The application informs drivers where exactly they should stop, optimizes routes, reroutes on the fly, improves customer service, records forgetful customers and saves money. For more details about the eMobile click here. It seems that exponential technologies are getting an integral part of waste management and recycling, sooner than most of waste managers believe, and with consequences to all the life-cycle stages. Technologically speaking, the vision for a Wasteless Future is getting more and more realistic, day by day, although important social barriers still exist and in some cases are growing.

D-Waste’s White paper on mobile applications and waste management, published in 2012, has already highlighted the importance and the benefits of waste management applications both for stakeholders and users. So, the brand new developed thermal imaging cameras would identify the future of waste management applications as HOT!

Stay tuned for more!
